The reinstatement fee does not include any additional fees, fines, tickets or assessments you may owe. Each individual case is different and must be handled separate and apart from one another. There is no clear explanation of suspension and the procedure to reinstate. The only forms that are generated in Operator Control are the Chauffeur's Application which is also the same form for a passenger endorsement (P) for CDL. You may correspond by writing and requesting the information from: You may contact the Division of Motor Vehicles, Operator Control Division at (401) 462-0800
IS MY LICENSE SUSPENDED RI HOW TO
If your license or registration has been suspended in the State of Rhode Island, there are three different ways that you may receive information on how to correct the problem. It may be redundant, but here is the info from their website: I may need to travel for work in the near future, and I'm quite sure I won't be able to rent a car on an expired license. Let's hope they don't have an automated letter-response system! So I mailed them a letter 2-3 days ago, referencing everything I could and stating my request for more information. It shouldn't take 10 days to send a letter! I called them again a day later to try to get more info, and they said they'd send me a letter. Honestly, it really shouldn't be this difficult to get feedback, should it? When I first contacted the RI DMV - Operator Control division, they said they'd sent me a letter.
IS MY LICENSE SUSPENDED RI DRIVER
One nice lady in their Driver Retraining section told me I was clear as far as her department was concerned, but then she refused to give me her name so now I can't even tell anyone in the future who I talked to!!! I've tried half a dozen other numbers in an attempt to find someone there who can help me. None of the automated menu options provides me with any help whatsoever. Their automated phone system gives no way to reach a human being anymore. Here we are, 9 business days and counting after I first contacted the RI DMV. It is usually a one day course on a Saturday. If it is driver retraining, the national safety council course should satify the requirerment. What is it? What does it do? How long is it required?Ĭlarify with the DMV if it is a driver retraining course or an alcohol program. I know nothing about SR-22's, other than they are somehow related to DWI/DUI cases. I suppose an SR-22 thingie is part of the requirements as well, although I have no recollection about that personally. Unfortunately, I have no paperwork from this any longer, so I will likely need to take another class in MO and make sure they send the results to RI. I believe a "Driver Retraining" is part of the requirements for reinstatement.

It's simply an adminstrative issue and will in no way assist you w/ the reinstatement process. I guess they really take their time adding on old records to NDR. Unfortunately your offense occured prior to the State's being connected but I m curious asto why it took so long for RI to put your suspension on NDR. Normally they would have had record of your attengance at and completion of the alcohol program. But please clarify for me if proof of taking the class is part of your reinstatement there, or is it just that you need to keep an SR-22 on file? You can contact the court where the offense occured. If they require an SR-22 then you'll have to get one. Unfortunately RI won't just take your word that you will not drive uninsured in their State. What should I do? I called the RI DMV phone number, but they can't seem to find any records of my taking the class, and they still consider me as Suspended! For what? I haven't driven in their state in 20+ years!!!! I don't recall that being any part of the requirements. I wouldn't even know where to begin to look for proof I took that class.Īlso, RI is now saying that they require me to have SR-22 insurance. This was 20+ years ago! I can't believe something I thought was long over has come back to haunt me! I did take the driver re-training, here in MO, but again that was 20ish years ago. They are now apparently hooked up w/ other states, and apparently RI still thinks my RI DL is suspended. So today I go to the Missouri DL office to renew my license. So I thought that chapter was behind me, all done. I already had my Missouri DL well before Feb 1989. I told the Missouri offiicials to send the results to RI. Was required to take a Driver Retraining class, which I did, back in Missouri. I got a lawyer, appeared before the court.

Shortly before moving back to Missouri (where I'm from and where I currently reside), I got a DWI. My question involves a driver's license issued by the State of: Rhode Island and Missouri.
